Intrigue aftermarket headlight upgrades:

An old topic, but these type of headlamp mods are getting ever so popular. Everytime I goto Walmart I see headlamp upgrades for <$10-->$20 per light and at least 3-4 different brands, Blues, Silverstars etc.

tell us what you are using and what you think of your new headlamp mods. Positives and negatives.
Headlamps: Maybe the cheapest and best upgrade for the Intrigue. No need to change out the high-beams either if you want to keep the upgrade cheap (low-beams only OK!)

i use eurodezigns (http://www.eurodezigns.com) lamps for my low beams, high beams and aftermarket fog lamps which use a H3 bulb. they are very affordable and come with a lifetime warrenty which is great. they are much brighter than halogen bulbs and the light has a nice blue tint.

For my high beams I am running regular Silverstars, they made a somewhat noticeable difference and I do like them, Ive never tried anything else so I dont know.
For my low beams I am using Sylvania 9005 bulbs, modified to fit the 9006 sockets, these also made a nice difference and is an easy and popular mod. Im considering buying another set of 9005 Silverstars to run as my low beams

I'm using Silverstars for my low beams. Awful. They don't look noticeably more blue than regular old bulbs and they are not all that bright. My high beams are some cheezy blue bulbs I got off ebay. They actually look quite nice. My fogs also are (were) those cheezy blue bulbs, but both are burned out and I haven't got around to replacing them yet. If there is one shortcoming with this car it is the weak low beam headlights (I've used stock bulbs, blue bulbs from ebay, and now silverstars - all too dim for my bad eyes). I'm thinking of getting an HID kit for the low beams. I know they cost $300-400, but I would prefer to see at night. IF rebased bulbs are just as bright, I'd rather do that, cause it'd be cheaper.

I would like to maybe try some green lights since my car is green, but I worry about brightness (must be at least as bright as the stock bulbs). A bright white/blue would be ok and maybe preferred. I run my car in the country-side at night and you need bright lights to see animals and such in the night.
If it was only city driving I wouldn't really worry about the brightness level.

These actually look pretty good and there is very little color to them = bright white, lite green light. =that's what I want since I have a dark green car.

Silverstar bulbs are not supposed to look more blue than regular halogens, they would look more white than anything, and they do.
If you want the blue look go for Sylvania Cool Blue headlights, or the ebay ones are probably about the same. All they have on them is a blue tint/filter that turns the normal yellowness of halogen to a whitish/blue....want to see how it works? Go find a streetlamp that emits a yellowish light, then look at it through the portion of your windshield at the top where it is tinted blue...it will turn the light whitish/blue but will also make it dimmer.

do the 9005-->9006 Mod like LH said (especially for blue lights). You now have 65W headlights (9005 high beam) instead of 55W (typical low beam).
I may go Hella 9006 80W Blue for my low-beams and will keep on the metal cap with slits or whatever it is covering the tip of the bulb. I figure for blue I will need to use a higher wattage bulb. It's colder where I live and the car really doesn't sit at lights much = should be able to handle the extra heat. Most likely I will aim the lights downward more if too bright.
Those SUV with halogens are getting really bright and they are aimed much higher than cars. -Hard to see in the country when an SUV is coming at you on a two lane road.

I did some research and I believe these PIAA Japanese halogens are the best you can get that are also legal. The DOT max is 55W (low) and 65W (high). When both are on at the same time (using the Intrigue flash mode) the Intrigue circuitry is almost maxxed out -meaning if you use 80W and 100W off-road style lights you are not only illegal, but will most likely blow the fuse and maybe some wiring.
Right now I have 80W (9006) and 100W (9005) Hella bulbs. Too cold to mess around, so I'll wait until summer. With a 20A fuse I should be able to use the 80W bulbs. I believe that 80W is too high for low-beams without some modifications. I may make a 100W (9005) fog set-up and mod the 80W (9006 ---> 9005).

Well folks, this week I plan on ordering a Philips HID kit from xenondepot.com . Hopefully everthing goes well with that and they are much more useful than my useless silverstars. Anyone recommend a different kit or cheaper place to order? Let me know, please, as I plan on ordering it before the week is up.

I just installed the silverstar ultras and there is a noticable difference. They're brighter and whiter in color. Well worth the 35 dollars in my opinion.
