ok im not going to mention any names since i dont want to get sued so please dont ask. ok heres whats rumored to be happening at these so called skyline leagalizers here in cali and other states. my brother was going to import skylines and in dueing reasearch he found a disgruntled employee from a verry big and popullar skyline importer who informed him that they dont do any or verry little modifications to the car. and that they pay people at the dmv 10k (per car) to register the car. and saw in another post some guy offering to leagalize them for 10k ( almost half the motorex price). but this guy registers it as another car and not a skyline so it cant be legal. so just a word of warning to the wise check your skyline out verry good because if the govermant catches wind of this youll end up spending another 10-16k to legalize you car agin just because the importer wanted to cut back on costs.:smoker:

Thanks for the heads up for folks--although the vets around here are very aware of the scammers out there, a new wave of newbies rolls in every week, so it is good to once in a while rehash the old stuff.....
That is also why the stickies are up there, by the way.
I can almost promise you, however, that MX does not "pay anyone off". As to the extent of the modifications done, that's the million dollar question. I have also heard rumors that there are red herrings in the petition, and had it explained to me by another RI that all RI's place these red herrings in petitions to thwart their potential competitors, so even if it IS true, it's business being done as business is always done.
No matter what you might think, or want to believe, there IS quite a bit of extensive work that must be done---side impact beams in the doors, etc. It's not as easy as cake. So even though so many of us want to think of MX as the big bad wolf, without them, where would any of us be?
You dig?

If you read the "night7" thread that should answer many questions, not to mention the stuck threads.

The red herrings I am speaking of are certain items on the petition (which, as I said, is quite common)which are done in a confusing manner, such that, besides the parts that are covered by the granted confidentiality, there are other things that a competing RI would have to sift through and decipher.
