Fuel Injector Replacement

I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan with a 3L engine. I'm getting a 302 code and the van misses at around 40. New plus, wires and cap. Had this same problem 3000 miles ago and had the #2 injector replaced and took care of problem until now. Would like some guide on how to replace injector...I'm 1000 miles from home for the winter so I can't take it back to the mech. who did the work last time. I do know that the part was from Napa and it was a new one not a rebuilt. Thanks Bama2

Changing an injector is not hard. You will need to shut off the fuel pump and run the engine until it stops or bleed the fuel from the fuel rail in some other fashion to eliminate the fuel pressure. Once you have relieved the pressure you will need access to the injector. Once this is obtained pull the injector and fuel rail out as a unit. There may be a bolt that holds the rail in place. If so remove it. Remove the electrical plugs from the injectors and then pull the rail and injectors. Remove the clip that holds the injector in place and remove it from the rail. Once you have done this us a little vasoline on the o-rings to make them easy to install. Push the injector back into the rail and reinstall the injectors into the head. Replace all parts and once everything is back together start the car.
If you have a 302 code you may have a problem with the wire or plug on the injector so check it out first. Sometimes connectors go bad and need to be replaced. A lot cheaper than a new injector. You can purchase a noid light at a parts store for a few dollars to test the injectors. Also the plug, wire and coil should be checked first. Replacing the coil with one of the others may indicate a coil issue if the code changes. Also change the plug on the cylinder first. Injectors don't go bad that rapidly so I believe you have another issue.
