I'm getting a jdm b16 out of a del sol into my CRX. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the hp is on this, is it 160 or 170? Does it differ from different years or is it all the same. Thanks.

So In Other Words The Del Sol Engine Is 170 Horsepower. BUT You Have To Do So Much More Work To Put That Engine In YOur Car!! The B16a1 Which Is What Was In 4g SIR's in Japan Is The Easiest To Put In Your Car!!! You May Loose 10 Horsepower But You Have To Do A Tranny Cable Conversion If You Put The Del Engine In You Car!!

No man the del sol b16a3 is 160 hp. The ONLY 170 hp b16 is the JDM sir2 engine. The rest of the USDM b16 is 160. The Jdm SIR1 is 160 and same goes with integra xsi model. The USDM Del Sol engine will work on your car but u have to get the cable to hydro conversion kit and hasport makes them. OR you can find a jdm cable tranny and bolt that rite up. Also you have to change your non obd to obd1 or 2 depending on the year of the USDM engine.

Only the EG6 Civic SiR and the EG2 CRX (Del Sol) SiR came out with 170bhp. To get the 170bhp, you will need the ECU from either of these.
The EF8 CRX and EF9 Civic SiR came out with 160bhp and ran a different ECU to the EGs. They do however, have the cable driven tranny you need, as does the Integra XSi.
The EF Engine was never labelled as a B16A1, it's engine stamp is actually B16A5. The XSi was a B16A1.
Euro EE8 and EE9 Civics only had 150bhp from their B16A1. Aussie 3rd gen CRXs (they were never labelled a Del Sol) also came out with the 160bhp B16A, as did the EK VTiR Hatches and EK VTiR Coupes (Coupe is actually a RHD USDM Si). All were cable driven clutches, as was the EG6 and EG2 although the mounts etc seem very similar to the EF/EE series.
Hope this helps, I'm sure others can add to it.

Do you have B16A5 stamped on your engine? I thought all JDM B16's engine stamp said just B16?
I always thought JDM engine codes never had the last number.

Bracer you're rite. They don't have numbers next to them. They only have that serial number on the bottom. I don't think jdm motors have numbers next to the code.

It's the JDM Gen 2 B16A then - 170 bhp, but you must have the JDM ECU, not a chipped USDM one.
What you'll run? Depends on the weight of your car. High 14s/low 15s is my guess dependent on driver ability.
