Hi guys, I have a doubt about my nissan sentra 01 SE, when the road is wet the grip on the front wheels is pretty unstable, just on wet weather...I know that's normal when is raining..I had a prelude 92 before and the grip was pretty good even with the road wet. What can I do in order to have a better grip on the road?....maybe by droping the car a few inches?...thanks guys!

besides different tires.........Maybe putting more weight in the front somehow.

wider wheels=less wet traction, unless you have good rain grooves

Yeah, get better all-weather tires.

haha i bet he bought some r-compound tires because he read in super street that they were really good for handling.

jejeje...well I just bought the car almost 4 months ago, the tires are very wide maybe that's the problem, what you guys think about droping the car a few inches...?..may that help with the traction?

No, that wouldn't really help. You need all-weather tires.

Sure it would help your handling no doubt, but not in the rain. Tires are the trick. Also, a few inch drop is a pretty big drop. S-Tune coil overs for a spec only call for a 1.5/1.2 drop.

dropping the car wont do shit for wet traction, and if that is your first idea to increase wet traction maybe you should just hide your keys when the clouds come out

dropping a car, especially a sentra, will make traction worse if anything.

lol, hide the keys when the clouds come out. me with a 01 sentra se, its the tires. i have crappy tires, and sometimes thats the problem when im comeing from a stop. i have 205s on the car. but i usually don't have that problem in the rain. its my restricting to not pull the ebrake when its wet outside. i dont think lowering it would increase traction, as the weight isn't shifted when the car is lower. i say new tires.

205 actually work better than 225 or 215 in the wetness, smaller surface area makes the tire dive into the water harder than a wide tire due to increaded pressure over the smaller area, plus tread pattern is everything......

my 99 sentra had 205/55/15s and it was fine in rain and half decent in snow. lowering a car will change the behavior of the suspension and can load the tires more than at stock ride height, especially if you get stiffer springs and/or sway bars. also, camber and toe can change when you drop any car.
