How come we over here don't celebrate Christmas on the 25th, but the 24th?
And is there any more countries who does that?
I've never really gotten that explained to me.

Werd? I didn't know that. But I guess it doesn't matter since the date has no significance or accuracy whatsoever

I've lived in three countries and they all celebrate Christmas on the 25th - have heard of countries where Christmas isn't recognised as a holiday for religous reasons, but none that celebrate it a different day.

Gothenburg, Sweden
And I just did a bunch of searching and everything says that Christmas there is celebrated on the 25th.
David, you're crazy.

So in reality, they're not actually celebrating Christmas on the 24th, they're just opening gifts on the 24th.....whatever.

I got 2 Christmases... but that's because I got Orthodox Christmas in January. ;) Then my mom's family figured out that I didn't really follow their religion, so they cut that out.

Orthodox what if I may ask? Or did I miss something in church all these years?

that's not "european style".
i've never heard of anywhere else celebrating christmas on the 24th. it's certianly not a widespread thing to do that.

German family here too. And we do everything on teh 24th. Family gets together, we have teh huge meal, we do the present exchange, etc.
Only thing we did on the 25th are stocking stuffers. That's how it's always been. We will do everything Sunday night, Monday I'll get drunk and watch the Eagles beat Dallas. :grinyes:

My family has always done it on the 24th and 25th. I've got a large family, about 60+ locally and 300-400 in the south east US. The 60+ locals (aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews) get together on the 24th for dinner and to exchange gifts. Then on the 25th we stay at home and exchange gifts between our individual families (husbands, wives, and children)
