94 s-10 blazer heater core replacement?

have 1994 s-10 blazer 4.3 ,heater core went south on me
was going to have a shop replace it, they tell me the AC has to be
drained of feon to replace the heater core on my year blazer
anyone have some advise as to replaceing the heater core?

It should be the same layout as a '92 and a '92 doesn't require the evaporator to even be touched. I've done my '92 twice. Remove some passenger side lower dash trim, remove the glovebox and unbolt the heater box to access the heater core. Now '95's were a body change and I'm not familiar with them.

cool this has no mention of AC, wonder if the radiator shop
was full of crap..and tring to charge more money?
at least it looks like something i can do.......maybe.....lol

There's a fair amount of work involved, 90% of it is done from the interior. The good news is no special tools are required and the A/C does NOT need to be drained. I have done several of them, takes me about 4 hours. If you've never done one, better figure on a whole day!
