oil pressure problem....

I have a '88 Toronado with over 100,000 miles.It is a 3800 with automatic transmission.I let it sit for three years without cranking it over.I recently cranked it over.(not locked up)The digital oil pressure gauge shows lowest,blinking red increment.The oil pressure switch will not let the fuel pump engage.I'm considering bypassing the circuit to engage the fuel pump so I can pump out the bad fuel.But,My Haynes repair manual informs me when servicing the oil pump that I must remove inner and outer gears and pack the cavity with petroleum jelly or the pump could lose its prime.So,I'm wondering if the oil pump has lost it's prime over the three year period I let it sit.I also understand,that there is a bearing-seal issue.I've drained the oil and removed the filter.So,is there a way to revive the oil pump pressure without taking the oil pump apart.I don't want to waist money on a lost cause.Is it possible to crank the engine without starting to revive oil pressure?Should I risk bypassing the oil pressure switch and start the engine and just let it idle for a short time,so I can revive the oil pressure.I tried shorting the oil pressure switch connector to ground to see if the warning lamp illuminated but didn't notice nothing.(does it have a warning lamp)Is it the lowest,blinking red increment on digital oil pressure gauge?I also cleared the trouble codes on bcm and ecm to see if I could trigger a code when turning the key on or cranking.Please,I need help.This is my nemesis.I need to prove to my wife that I can repair this car or get rid of it to salvage.I know it's worth more if it will start and run.Thanks!
