My GT 97 has had problems with the E-brake for awhile now. I have replaced the ft and rear calipers, rotors, and pads. the ebrake handle has been loose for about 2 years, but pulling it all the way would give enough pressure to hold the car until now. It locks in place, but the car rolls. Last winter i had problems with the e brake freezing. I would have to get under the rear wheel and wiggle the hell outta the brake cable and then it would release. I lifted my car up at the shop and saw the rubber dust cover/ sleeve deals on the cable were rotten through exposing the cable which was rusty. So with all that said im willing to give a shot at the brake cable/s? The parts warehouse i use carries the cable new for 17$ or so. they did mention it requires 2 cables. Left and right id assume. Now the true question is what kind of a pain is the cable to install? i dont have access to lift...:banghead: . is the center consol a bear to take out? whats it consist of? thanks for the help... Have your first tried adjusting the parking brake with your current cables? You didn't mention it...you can replace with new ones pretty easily. I don't know the specific steps anymore, but I'd suggest you pick up a Bentley service manual for this car. It will tell you how to do it, plus a lot of other things you've been meaning to do.
