Great. Another one of these threads.
Noobs always start them up, and they either a) never check back on it and current members go waaay off topic or b) OP's mommy refuses to buy him/her a car for 2 more years because he/she got bad grades
Just search and read the FAQs.

everyone is pretty much going to say everything that has been said so many times, VW GTI or GLI, Grand Prix GTP, Fox body stang, civic and swap motor, MK3 turbo Supra and so on and so forth.

just browse through the street racing section and look at what everyone's driving. those are pretty much the recommendations you're gonna get. that being said, get a maxima or a street bike.

In before lock...
Just do some research yourself, and you'll find the right car for you, for the price... Because after all, we can't tell you what to buy, it's your choice, and only you can make it...

pretty much what everyone said, but my two choices would be; 1st gen DSM *reliability can be an issue* or possibly a 87-89 300zx turbo

5 grand and quick? i'd say drive a bunch of cars first in that price range. some cars that are know to be 'quick' or 'sporty' may just not fit you when you actually drive it. this came to my decision when i was test driving cars out yesterday. i'll make a thread about it when im not too lazy, and i have my breakfast.
