While driving at highway speeds, my speedometer drops slowly like 10 minutes all the way to zero. I have no idea why. 44000 miles any help would be great thanks

Well it sounds like 1 of 3 things to me,your way to drunk to drive on the highway, your cruise is not working right, or your falling asleep. Oh come on, that was funny.VSS is bad( vehicle speed sensor ), speedo is bad, or the circut is bad.I myself would start at the vss.I bet if you check it for resis. it will be out of spec.

Point me in the right direction, where is the VSS. That sounds like my best bet. Now , where the hell is it and how do I replace it? Thanks if you want to speak to me directly please e-mail me!

Brave man dumpin your email addy.May wanna edit out that part.It is at the back of the trans,2wd,just before the driveshaft,4wd,just before the trans to transfer case,ummmm,2 wires, drivers side(i think).I'm a robot at work so when I get home it is hard to recall where everything is.Pull the plug and use an ohm meter to check resis. My ShopKey only goes to 03 and it is not in there.Maybe Maxwedge or GMMerlin can give you the resis it should have.Sorry dude all I got.If I had the info I would gladly.

Most likely the VSS is not your problem.
If the VSS signal drops out, most likely you will get a SES light and a code, plus the trans will default to 2nd gear.
The VSS sends a signal to the PCM, PCM sends a signal to the cluster.
I would check the signal circuit from the PCM to the IPC for high resistance.
Possible causes from most to least likely would be the IPC, signal circuit or PCM.

Merlin gets me again, well really I got myself.I didn't read the '03 part to well till just now.More than likely it will be the speedo head itself, but allways check your circuts for res, power and ground. When you check for ground make sure the system is powered up because a power source will turn to ground when not powered up.
