I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 and my 4 wheel drive shifter makes a vibration noise while driving, like i can hear the noise comming from the transfer case. what can i do to stop this or can I?

You might check the fluid level in your transfer case.

On the back of the transfer case there should be 2 plugs, 1 at the lower part and 1 about middle. Pull the higher one out and see if any lube runs out, if not, stick your little finger in and if you can touch lube easily, it's ok.
If you have to bend your finger much, go to the dealer and buy what's called for, unless you have a steady drip, what you buy should last a long time.

I checked the fluids it seems fine also tried loosening the pivett bolt on the brack for the 4x shifter, this is one of 4 bolts that bounts the bracket to the transfer case, that seemed to help the noise a bit. any other suggestions?

speaking of 4x4 shifters, does anybody elses shifter move atleast an inch downward when accelerating. I know there would be some movement from the torque but this is kinda alot.
