Blower motor?

Hello all,
I have a 2001 SE 4 door edition grand prix with a potential blower problem. My heater's temperature control seems to work fine but the blower doesn't operate on the two lowest settings. The blower settings go from 1-5 and only 3-5 work. I suppose it could be the switch as well but I have to find it to be able to test it. I usually pick up a DIY manual before tinkering with my cars but I haven't located one for this car. Do any of you know where I can order one? Can someone help a "non-mechanic soul" out and point to where the blower motor is located?
Thanks!

Welcome to AF!!
Non-mechanics are our speciality!!! The blower motor resistor has gone bad in your car and needs to be replaced. You can purchase one at a dealer for $35 to $40. To get to it you will need to get under the dash on the passenger side and remove the carpeted shield. Remove the fan motor using a socket and then remove the resistor that is located right next to the fan motor. Replace the resistor and reinstall the fan. Put everything back together and you shouldn't have any more problems with the speed problem. By the way you will probably want to remove the seat to give you plenty or room and the socket to take the fan out is either a 5.5 or 6.5 mm. I can't remember which. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.
