Hey my buddy has a 96 Honda civic cx and the shifter is very loose. Is there a bushing or something along that line that needs replaced?

Get under the car and make sure everything is tight.
There's bolts that hold that shifter to the car and the linkage.
Probably something loose or missing there.:smokin:

I see that a lot where I work(at Honda)..and yes there is a bushing that connects the shift arm to the shaft that goes into the transmission and that is most probable(99%) the reason why it is so loose...but you better tell your buddy to get it fixed quickly because it puts wear on the seal of your transmission where the arm comes in, I also change that quite often because of people who wait to long lol!!!

There is a bushing on the actual shifter as well, it is on the pivot ball on the actual shifter.
