I need the help of AF's computer savy badly. If you know all the in's and out's of Windows 98 and Winamp3, please inquire within. I will be on AIM in a half hour or so. I made a mistake installing Winamp3 and failed to see something, now I can't change things back. So if you think you're qualified, please help. I have to go pick up wifey now and need to release some anger on some unsuspecting, innocent bystander.

My AIM SN is the same as here.

You are not giving too many details but sounds like an unisntall might do the trick. Go to control pannel click on add/remove programs and remove winamp 3

Okay, here is a brief description of my fuck up.

The other day, after reading something in here about winamp3, I decided to download it to install on my computer. Now, normally, I read everything when I install things to my computer. I especially look for configurations. But since I've used winamp 2.# for the longest time, I took for granted that it would be the same. What I didn't notice was that winamp3 now plays videos. Long story short, it associated all my vids to winamp files. I don't want this and I want to change them back. But for some reason, it won't change back. Now I've uninstalled winamp3 and the files still have the winamp icons next to them and they are still associated with winamp. I am currently running Windows 98. I use Windows media player for all my video needs and would like them changed back, along with their icons.

Any and all help is seriously appreciated.

DVS. Go to your windows explorer.

Someplace on the 98 pulldown menu you'll find Folder Options (I think it moved between 98 and 2000 but its on the tools menu in 2K)

There'll be a File Types tab. Select that.

Go down the list and look for the file extension that you want changed back.

Select it. And then pick the Change button. From there you can select whatever application you want to run it.

If you want Windows Media player to play most of it, you can use the following out of the Media player.

Go to Tools/Options menu item within the program.

Pick the formats tab.

Select what extensions you want to use the media player for.

Say OK.

Sorry about not getting on this sooner (missed it)

Thanks Yogs. But the problem is fixed. I know you would of helped.

I contacted winamp and told them what happened. I reinstalled it the same way I did that day, then in the preferences I de-selected any ext that had to do with video. All icons were restored and functionality is back. But thank you anyway cuz pretty much what you wrote there was also done.:D:D
