I have a 99 Taurus se, only had it a couple of months. First the heat didnt work - air blows out but not hot. We replaced the temp control switch and flushed the heater core. Now I get heat but no a/c. Im about ready to take it too a shop to have it fixed but I dont want to spend 60 to 90 dollars an hour for someone to troubleshoot. and then pay more on top of that for them to maybe fix it.
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice. Thank you

Auto or manual air?
If auto any body codes?
There is some TSB on blend door problems on some.
If you are going to fix it yourself.
I would suggest a All Data sub.

And remember with auto controls you will need a good body capable scanner to check it out.

Does the A/C compressor engage and the cooling fans on the radiator run when you turn on the A/C?

Can you tell if the mixing door is moving that diverts air around or through the heater core at varying rates depending on the temp setting?
