Hello everyone
I have a quick question. This past weekend my front left tire began to squeak anytime I turned it left past 15 degrees. I think its the ball joint, but I wanted to get some other opinions first. What do you guys think?
James

It is best to post the year, engine and anyother problems you may be experiancing with your car.
But looking at your profile I see you have an 05'.
Does it make this noise while at a stop?
If so then its the rubber boot thats over the steering column,
its to keep out water/air.
If it only does it when moving,
It could be loose lugsnuts, Or a bearing failing.
Also the CV joints boots could be rubing something.
A ball joint will sqeak if its old and not greased properly(but usually Pops),
but on an 05', not very likly.
Unless you've driven off road :yikes:

Do you know how much it generally costs to get something like that looked at since I am not a car repair person?

Depends on your geographical location, but if you goto the stealership expect to pay $75-125 just to examine the car.
Then more for repairs and labor.
Might only cost $25-100 at a smaller shop.
Call around your area, ask people you know who's good and who's not.
Also thought it could be a brake pad wear indicator on the front that is sqeaking.

that does sound like a brake wear indicator sqeaking.

ok, i didn't know that break wear would affect just one side and only happens when I do not press the break. But thank you for the heads up, i'll get those replaced asap.

When one wheels wear indicator squeals and the other doesnt,
that would indicate that they are not wearing evenly.
Most probable cause is the slide pins on the calipers are not working correctly.
I would have it checked pronto :D
As for good brake pads their is to many to list.
Raybestos & Bendix are pretty popular.
Depending on what you are willing to spend also makes a big differance.
Napa has some upwards of $80 for just the front :eek7:
Advance auto had some that I put on my GT, they cost about $50.
Here is a link to Advance's brakes (http://www.partsamerica.com/Brakes.aspx).
My local store doesnt carry the Raybestos pads,
which is what I wanted :(
(I think this was because theirs a Raybestos in Indiana,
and it was, or is going to close up 90% of thier production.)
Good Hunting!
