It would be hard to explain here. I would suggest a Haynes repair manual, it gives good step by step instructions on this procedure. Good luck.

Remove the bolts take out pump. . . put the new one on reinstall the bolts, no big deal. Here's a little more .. . first remove the pully bolts (four) take the tenion off the ideler with a socket on a long handle, remove the pully, remove all the bolts on the pump. swing the altnator forward, remove the heater hose, remove the pump, SUPPER CLEAN the gasket serfice on the eng. pay attention to which bolts came from which holes. Check to see that you have the upgraded pump . . not sure, compaire a new pump with the old at the FORD DEALER . . . impelers are differant. Reinstall . . .lightly grease the gasket both sides . . . why . . so it won't pinch or wrinkle in a tight spot, wire brush all bolt threds, put antisizing compond on all the small bolts and RTV (orange) on all the large bolts . . . why . . because they are in the water jacket. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the small bolts . . . how tight? . . . about as tight as you could turn them with a screwdriver. reinstall the pully (tighten the bolt after the belts on) put the belt on revease of off. put the hose on . . use a new clamp trash the old clamp . put the alternator back, fill the coolent. 45 min total time.
