What is the year of your Escort? The memory doesn't work on your radio. Does the radio itself play? When you installed the radio what power source did you hook up to? Is it "HOT AT ALL TIMES"? My schematic shows the radio and the door locks are supposed to be connected to a power source that is "HOT AT ALL TIMES". If you are connected to a power source that is only hot in "RUN or ACCESSORY", this could explain why the radio won't hold a memory. I think it has to have a continious power source to hold the memory. Double check that fuse for the door locks. I think it is a 30 amp in the passenger compartment. It is supposed to be "HOT AT ALL TIMES".

95 mercury tracer. radio works, doesnt stay hot all the time. radio is hooked up correctly to both ignition wire and 12 volt wire, but there is no fire through the "yellow" 12 volt continious wire. I have checked the 30amp fuse for the door locks and it isnt blown. there must be another fuse somewhere that sends 12 volts to both.

Yeah, you're right there is another fuse that sends 12 volts to the radio and the power door locks. It is a 10 amp "ROOM" fuse. The radio has 2 power sources. The wire from the 15 amp " RADIO" fuse is DB/BK. It is hot only in "RUN OR ACCESSORY". The wire from the 10 amp "ROOM" fuse is DB/R and is "HOT AT ALL TIMES" and goes to the radio to supply enough power to maintain station memory. These are the 2 wires that go to the stock AM/FM radio. The only other wires my diagram shows are the ones that go to the instrument panel dimming rheostat and they are DG and DB/DG.

The same 10 amp "ROOM" fuse goes to the left front door lock switch. It's the 10 amp "ROOM" fuse that's causing the problems with both your radio memory and door locks. Replace that fuse and it should solve your problem. BTW I couldn't find a yellow wire.

thanks I checked the "room" fuse and it was blown, everything works now.

btw, the yellow wire I was referring to is on the stereo I am installing, yellow is now standard color for the 12volt memory wire.
