I recently came up on some money ($4300 to be almost exact) and I thought to my self, what better way to blow all my money than to have my car blown; forced induction that is. The kit comes with all the mounting hardware, up pipes, down pipes, oil lines and couplers and even a front mount intercooler. The kit also ships with the greddy e-manage ultimate instead of the mini e-manage. It did not come with any guages and at the least I am going to need an A/F guage and a boost guage. I am also going to need spark plugs that have a colder spark since the stock plugs run too hot. It is only 5.6 pound of boost which should not hurt my reliability too much. The kit should come in during the later half of the week and I'll keep you guys and girls(its true, mostly girls drive the rx-8 because its "cute") up to date on the install.

Did you checked the time for the 1/8 and 1/4 mile with the turbo kit. it only took off 2-3 tenth of a second. is that worth 4k. not to bash the car or anything but just wondering. the car has major issue with reliability now. motor being replace left and right at the dealer. they have hotter plugs to burn off all the carbon from oil injection, run colder one if you want but you will have flood start problems.

I have not looked up the time but I have seen a turbo rx-8 where I live running consistant 13.268 with nothing else modifed, the turbo is only boosting 5.2 pounds. The owner of the car has had it with the turbo for one and a half years with no major problems. The only problem he has is that he has not traction.

I know it's been a long time since my last post but I'm finally back. The install was not as hard as I thought, it jus took a very long time, 1 week and 1 day to be exact. Part of the problem was that I only have 3-4 hours a day to work on it since I had to go to my real job. I did run into too problems, 1. the oil line fitting that was supplied with the kit was too small so I had to run to orchard supply to get an extension piece. 2. The compression mid pipe that connects the intercooler to the turbo outlet was too long so I had to cut it about 3 inches. Other than that I have no complaints. So far I have put 936 miles on the car with the turbo with no check engine light, but the car does burn more oil than it used too. I dyno'd the car last saturday and the results were above my expectations, 272 whp. Right now there is only the underdrive pullys and 3 inch exhaust with no cat or muffler, but I think I will put the cat back on because it is way too loud. If any of you guys live in the central valley and want to see it just let me know.

g/j just get rid of the e-manage system or it WILL blow your motor. Instead get the Intercept-X managment.

The only thing to check if it's a good value (do not count if you have too much extra money)...it's the time on the track...HP on a Dyno is usseless!! time that count only..
sometime taking some weight on the car will do more that the extra money spent on the motor...
Ussaly first thing that work fast is the R compound tire, follow by the suspension. at the end you touch the motor...
Beside enjoy your bling bling...:sunglasse ...check my website..supra twin turbo follow by my Mazda3 automatic!!
300hp versus 160hp...
www.racingpurposeonly.com (http://www.racingpurposeonly.com)
for sure store will tell you anything for a good sell....
Your turbo kit for sure help but for how much! and in touring this thing is illegal..solorace will give you more penalty also..so not good for racing advantage, too bad...
:grinyes:
No cats, no muffler!!! the sound must be crazy:O) wish i can ears that:O)

Your right, dyno numbers mean nothing unless their put to good use. This car is not a race car, just my night time car.

Why are you people trying to improve near perfect. The car was designed to race. I think the best thing to do to improve it would not be to add a turbo-kit or air intake. But, shed a few more pounds. Remove back seats, upholstery that is not necessary and such. I think you would be better off than trying to improve the engine.

because some people like creature comforts dude.
Besides I don't think the RX-8 was designed as a spartan sports car, it has 4 doors and a backseat.

You seem to be under the wrong impression... the engine is fine. The PCM needed a new flash to fix the oil flow which was causing the issues in the engine. Any engine being managed improperly will have issues. The reason engines were being replaced is because it was mazda's fault for programming it incorrectly and caused them to fail. I'd be more upset if mazda hadnt done the recall.

because the car is very light weight. the back seats together weigh 5 pounds, the doors, hood, and trunk are all made from aluminum. The driveshaft is carbonfiber. The most anyone has been able to shed and still keep the car drivable as a daily is about 100 pounds. The car is very light, the lightest model weighs about 2880, and no its not the base model that weighs that.
