I just though I might share and get you opinion- but today I was sitting in the Library talking to a mate........Anyway, he had an issue of Sports illustrated which we was reading- He then aked me-

What is so great about fuckin bikini's????- I find one-pieces, like that (Pointed to a picture of baywatch style one piece) look, like, WAAAY sexier- Those being his exact words

I had to walk out before almost choking in the horror- But do you share this guy's opinion? Did what he say sound quite normal to you????

So what do you perfer people one-pieces or bikini's???

A one piece is fine. As long as it's the kind of one piece I saw in Europe in the summer - a small one piece thong.

Unless it's a guy and that's just all wrong.

I general I have to say that I prefer a one piece (the botton part of the Bikini:devil: )

no Seriously I prefer the bikini to the one piece

Guys, I can't pick!!! :o

I mean, for actual SWIMMING purposes, a one-piece is a must. I like to dive and goof around, so this also keeps me out of n3kkid trouble, too...

But then if I am laying out (which RARELY happens) it's better in a bikini... and sometimes bikini's are just plain more comfortable. No tugging from top to bottom due to ill-fit or whatever.

I won't vote until I decide...

First off, it's gotta be Bikini over n3kkid. n3kkid is good and all, but I find that the sexiest thing about women is what's left to the imagination (or what's left to discover) :sun:

Second, here's Boingo's pic... She doesn't seem like the "jelly belly" type to me...

Thirdly, I agree with Mr. T. I much prefer a woman with some substance...

I appreciate that, and I'm seeing things more realistically now, but I'm still self conscious. And when you're in High School, the guys freak out at "bulge" also. I heard from guy friends that "girls should only have 2 places where you can grab a handful" and that kind of stuff. This is in addition to the stuff portrayed by the media.

I'm not saying I'm fat. I'm at a perfectly healthy weight, and I like my figure, except for the belly. It's not bad, I just don't like to show it around I guess.

One pieces are definitely better for when you are swimming seriously and two pieces are better for mucking around in. Especially when you can get the mix and match ones so you can better a bigger top with a smaller bottom (yes I know I'm out of proportion! :finger: ). :)

And to NSX, not to play the blame-game, but you're kinda part of the problem...how does one define "a bit of podge"? How do a person know when they have exceeded the allotted amount of podge? Maybe we'd all better wear thick sweatshirts, just so we don't run the risk of offending you..

replicant_008
09-24-2002, 02:44 AM
Well I didn't really want to wade in but... here goes...

Clink (there's the 2 cents in the meter)...

Marketing, entertainment and the media have socially conditioned our societies by way of cultural programming as to what we perceive to be attractive. This has evolved since pre-history where Cro-Magnon Man worshipped rotund earth mother idols (because that was the best body shape to survive in the environment) and symbolised fertility and abundance in a hostile environment.

Our perceptions have changed many times over the centuries with some of the images of attractiveness of the past being amusing to downright horrific and unsightly to later generations (eg bound feet in pre 19th Century China, corsets and baleen bustles in Victorian England). The waistlines and proportions have waxed and waned eg WWII era pin-ups were bustier and larger than even Marilyn Monroe's era. This waned to the flat-chested, skinny Twiggy look in the 60s, going to a bra-less hippy look with flairs in the 70s and gravitating to a thinner look in the mid 80s onwards.

We also have seen the onset of medical procedures and drugs which to be honest have resulted in some 'freakish' body types as models which are a 99th percentile of the population unachievable.

Personally, my perception is that with diet, nutrition and prosperity in Western society has resulted in a gradual increase in height and weight. This is right across the board and across ethnic groups. Comparing the NFL teams from the 60s to the present day, the heaviest 60s forward would be lucky to the same mass as some of the bigger backs in the game today.

Even Ali at his best would have been dwarfed by the likes of Tyson and Lewis. Even in my own family, my father was tall and broad for a child of the 40s but at 5 foot 8 inches and 140 pounds he's dwarfed by fairly average 5 foot 10 inch, 185 pound frame.

One of the things I've learnt in my travels is that one man's discards are another's man's treasure. In Sao Paulo in Brazil, a voluptous rear is seen as being a pre-requisite to being attractive - whereas in the West, a size 4 is considered the ideal (and boy I'm telling you the women that weren't considered attractive in Brazil could have easily been some of the most stunning women I've met in my life - at least to my eyes).

Anyway, time to get to the point. We all have ideals - I'd ideally like to drop to 8 per cent body fat and be down around 165 pounds but given the sports I do (which usually involve strength and endurance) and the lifestyle I lead that's pretty unrealistic (what give up beer!?). We should all be happy if the body type (by way of genetics, upbringing and lifestyle) is within healthy norms - I'm saying by all means go to the gym - if you want to go right ahead - I still do but it's your choice no one else's.

And I'd imagine using NSX's exaggerated 300 lbs - that would be outside a healthy norm for most folk.

This whole self-image thing is important it feeds self-esteem, ego and a whole pile of other things so it can be a tool for a better lifestyle, healthier eating and moderate exercise. But like a large chainsaw, your tool (ie you ideal image) shouldn't end up hurting you by making you feel inadequate or destroying your self-worth (and affecting you by doing things that are bad for you eg eating disorders).

And NSX is entitled to his opinion, but then again you may not want to meet him either. Some of what he considers attractive are probably not what I consider attractive and vice versa - but the world is a cauldron of different tastes and perceptions. That's what I like about it.

taranaki
09-24-2002, 08:58 AM
Damn but you get a lot for 2 cents thesedays!

300lbs is o.k.:D ...it looks damn fine on some people(me:finger: )

"a bit of podge"......what a lovely phrase to make a girl feel good about herself........My 'problem'( ),as you refer to it,is that I have a bit of respect for ladies, even in such limited formats as this.If you want to do the 'shallow Hal' thing, that's just great,go for it....but Ithink you might just find that NSX is short for "No Sex":silly2: :silly2: :silly2: :silly2:

Well, hasn't this been a lovely thread for every chauvenistic, opinionated male pig to have a spurt. Thank you (yet again!!) to Replicant and Taranaki for demonstrating to AFs alternate gender (so it would seem ;)) that not every man thinks/acts like this. I completely agree with what Rep says about social conditioning. I find all sorts of females attractive and can NEVER consider myself attracted to someone until I've had a half decent chance to pick their brains (yes guys, that's up about 35cms from current focal point). Allow me to say I have seen photos (and only photos) of the females posting inthis thread and have been pleasantly surprised when PM conversing with them. I would like to encourage their self image by saying a big THUMBS UP to both of you!

:coolguy: Exactly. Pretend, just for a moment that you had your eyes gouged out. How would you judge females then? It takes more than just a specfic type of figure to make someone beautiful.

If everything was based totally on looks, then there are some of us that would be in real trouble. ( guys and gals alike we know who we are :( ). But fortonatly for us, not everyone is so shallow. And for those of us in this situation ,that find a mate or a friend or the opposite sex, or whatever, are most likely better off in the long run that someone who only looks at the outer beauty (or lack of it).

Im not saying that I am all knowing, because thats simply not true (not right now at least :finger: ), but I have recently met and made some friends of the opposite sex, which if I had only focused on physical appearance, I would have missed out on a great opportunity to meet new ppl.

Most of the AF veterans here, remember me as being depressed, and always complaining about lack of friends, etc. Now, I sometimes joke about it, but things change. The best advice I could give anyone would be to keep your eyes open and look for opportunities wherever they may be, and to give others a chance, dont judge too harshly (at least until you get to know them :D )

Yep, I know this dragged off topic slightly, but I think its important. Go forth, find beautiful ppl of all shapes and sizes. Its hard to get your foot in the door, but well worth the effort.

Ok, im done :)

Please don't attack me but I'm on those self-conscious girls who see a different person when they look in the mirror. Anyways, I never owned a two-piece bathing suit until I met my recent boyfriend who came in and threw away all my one-pieces. I was a fat kid, like really fat, shamoo type, and I still look in the mirror and see that old body. As I matured;) I lost my baby fat and supposedly got a figure although I don't appreciate it. My boyfriend calls me "thick" which he loves but I call it disgusting. I was so bad before that I would never enter a pool with less than a long shirt shorts and then a bathing suit under, now I realize that men like meat, ofcourse not a lot but some and I wear two-pieces everyday. I still feel very self-conscious about my body but I'm not as bad as before. You guys decide. I'm gonna look for a pic from Busch Gardens but for right now here's a regular one. Could I pull off a two-piece and be honest please. Let me know if it's not clear or too big.

taranaki
10-26-2002, 11:41 PM
Actually,it's a little on the small size...but when you are here,it's your mind that is interesting.....the kind of guy who is quick to jump on what he sees as a ladies shortcomings is usually the last to spot his own weaknesses....

any woman can look good in a bikini if it is the right size, the right cut ,and worn with confidence. It's not that important how it looks to other people, what matters is how it feels to you.

I can't say that I've ever had the opportunity to converse with a naked woman, but through the internet,I may well have done. And in all truth,it doesn't really matter that much what shape they are, what they are wearing,or if they have a spare arm growing out of their head....if they can hold down a reasonable, rational, and intelligent conversation, then I want to learn from them.If some drop-dead gorgeous airhead in a string bikini wants to talk,I'd get bored really quickly.

SentraGirl
10-27-2002, 12:23 AM
Thanks Taranaki, I really appreciate that but it's sad that looks do mean a lot. Whether someone admits to it or not but looks are what first attracts you to the person to either get to know them or even accept them as your friend. I love the internet because it's just minds conversing on several different levels and subjects but I was just asking honest opinions because I don't wanna go out in a two-piece just because my boyfriend thinks I look good and everyone else mistakes me for a beached whale. Does that make any sense? I'll post some other pics tomorrow because I really appreciate the honest feedback and I'll try to get the quality better. Thanks again!:finger:
