B-spec

well b-spec is the savior of 24 hour and 1000 mile races, but my question is this:
does the car automatically pit?
see, i was in the middle of a very long race and set the car on b-spec and went downtstairs for lunch. i realized that i forgot to turn the TV off five minutes later and went back upstairs really quick and i was in last place. before going downstairs i had been manually pitting the car, so all i can think is that it ran out and had to drive at 50 mph for half a lap or whatever the case may be.
i thought that the car would automatically pit, but i guess not. or maybe something else happened, because i had a 2 lap lead on the last place car and a half a lap lead on the 2nd place car.

Yea they automatically pit, I've left the game on B-Spec while a I slept over night a few times. Gotta remember though, the computer isn't exactly the best driver, if you had him on level 4 or 5, he probally kept overshooting turns. When I did those 24 hours races, I built up big enough leads on left B-Spec on level 3 so he wouldnt do any stupid shit.

^ yeah, like he said, it pits automaticly. But on long track (nuerburgring) the pit timing may not be exactly correct, and the computer doesnt pit at the right times, leaving you with horrible tires for half the race.

well i had it set on 2.
i had been driving on b-spec for half the race and decided to leave for a while. it was the japanese tuning cars race. i had a completly tricked out suspension and minimal engine mods because if you upgrade the engine, the competition gets harder. still, it was annoying.
all i can think is that either
A. i ran out of gas and had to drive at 50 for a lap
or
B. the tires got completely worn and the car couldnt handle at all.

most likely b, because it automaticly fills you up on a pit.

level 2 (cruise) on b-spec seems rather slow to me compared to 3. i only leave it on 2 when i DON'T want my driver to progress forward and ride behind the person in front of him instead. maybe its just me though.

Well if I was to B-Spec a super long race, for one I always tried to make sure my car would destroy the competition. I never trusted the B-Spec in closer matched races simply because it sucks, not nearly aggressive enough

ive been trying bspec mode on the F1 races, and i can do well, but only if im controlling pits and race speed at all times. its not that bad as far as driving skill is concerned, but the thing is during the automatic pit stops, the computer will take a while after everything has been done before he starts to race again. the auto pitstops usually take like 10-20 seconds longer than normal. that alone can suck it up for your driver.

yeah, i guess that is the most likely cause, tires that is.
i just dont understand how i lost 2.5 laps or so in only five minutes (at 3x speed, so 15 minutes)
i'm goin on the gas shortage tho, it just makes more sense

I dunno dude, for as long as I've played that game I've never gotten remotely close to being short on fuel. Everytime I pit I get fueled all the back up and by time the tires are all changed, they're all done.

i'm just thinkin that since i had super hard tires on a lightweight (with the third kit) 79 or so japanese sports car, the tires lasted really long. especially since i had it set on level 2.
i think it was one of the 1000 miles races in european hall or one of the long races in the jap hall.
i was racing a blue something or other (not at home, so i cant remember the car)
oh, try this.
get a 71 chevelle.
put lots of engine mods on it.
take it round the ring.
you will run out of gas in like 2.5 laps.

You mentioned that you have full customized suspension so it's possible that some settings were off or something had gone amiss to maybe shorten the tread life or not to their full potential. Probably a long shot but still, its possible.

is it possible to switch between a-spec and b-spec modes during a race? if so, how do u do it (game's pause menu only has continue and exit)?

once your car is in the pit lane, the screen that says "gas, tires, etcc" will pop up. i believe that on the bottom somewhere it has a-spec or B-spec option. Thats the only way to switch between the two in a race.
