Ack! My title should read 500SEC, not L sorry bout that.
I really love these old school Benz's. This was one that caught my eye besides my favorite 190E's.
This is painted with Tamiya white primer, Tamiya Pearl White, Tamiya Pearl Clear and Tamiya Clear. I haven't polished it yet and I'm not sure if I want to.
Anyway, it is being built box stock. Not even changing the wheels. I also painted the center of the wheels in flat white.
I'm stumbling on the interior color. The sheet says for a white car it should be black interior. I just don't think that will look right. I'm leaning towards desert sand. Any one have suggestions?

Still have the lower panels and spoiler to add. Lots of little body details. Got to do the window surrounds in black and chrome trim, as well as the emblems.
I'm not really happy with my front grille, but I'll work on it a little more.

Neat build! This is a great kit. I'd do it in two tone tho, with the lower half in flat grey, Tamiya's german grey perhaps. Or do a cool My Little Pony scheme, with pink pony upholstery in the interior, made from real ponies - all cute. But that's just me, do it as you like.

Looking forward to seeing more! Also good to see one on the stock rims :grinyes:

I have the Revell Premium 560SEC in my to- build pile, so will be following this with great interest, esp to see if I should get Tamiya's one too!

Looking sweet. You are right, a black interior in a white model car may look too much like "unpainted plastic".
A tan or brown interior should look nice

Nice start, the wheels seem to fit it good. Gives it a bbs style. Keep us posted.

looks good!
navy blue, or blood red work well in white cars.

Blue or tan in my opinion. I think red would be too intense. But if you wholly think about it, blue might be too intense also. So my vote goes to tan.

If you want other options, why not check out the Mercedes website? Build a car using the website, choose white as your exterior color, and start matching up interior leathers.

EDIT: I just went to MBUSA and "built" an S550, and chose the designo Mystic White package, and that includes special Mystic White paint (say it's white for argument's sake), and they team it up with Porcelain leather, and Black Piano wood, with a Charcoal Alcantara roof liner. Here's a picture of it, maybe it'll inspire you!

I'd make the interior light grey, I know it's not a contrastive colour but in my opinion it would look nice!

I'm really digging that off white interior.
I'm keeping blue, sand and off white or Ivory interior on my list. Going to try a few colors on some scrap seats and see what it looks like inside the body.
Thanks for the ideas guys!

A little update:
Took some time today and got the body on the Mercedes 500 Lorinser wet sanded and polished. This is my second time polishing, first color was black, so I learned my lesson the hard way. White sure is much more forgiving.
The hood and I had a problem, it hit the cement floor and chipped a chunk of paint off. So, I've already got the "spare" hood primed and wet-sanded. Just need to get it painted and polished.
Anyway, this kit is almost completed. Just stuck in the interior right now.
My results:

Still one of the real Benz for my taste! Paint is perfect, very clean work all around!
I would make a blue interior or maybe some kind of natural leather brown.

Looking great!

I would make a blue interior or maybe some kind of natural leather brown.

If you do choose a natural leather colour, IMHO Humbrol's Matt 29 is good :)

Man, that's a gorgeous-looking paint-job! How did you do it? This is going to look magic when you're done.
