Problem with programs opening off screen

I hit "Compact mode" on Windows Media Player and it vanished off the desktop. It's open, the music plays and all that but it's not on the visible screen, it's off the screen to the left. The mouse pointer will move about an entire screens width off the screen to the left or right. I'm not using any kind of dual monitor setup and I've tried resizing the screen a few times. Anyone know how to correct this problem?

WMP is known to crash the GUI interface whilst keeping the application running. Check is WMPLAYER is running under Processes in Task Manager. End process if it is then open Media Player again.

It's a generic KDS VS 555 running 1024x768 on a 128 mb VooDoo.
I don't think it has anything to do with WMP itself. I can right click the WMP bar on the programs bar at the bottom of the screen and close it, it responds to the keyboard mute button and all that. When I minimize the program I see the top bar flash across the screen down to the program bar and same going the opposite. WMP appears to be functioning normally, it's just displaying off screen.
I've tried closing it via task manager, rebooting and randomly clicking off screen to try and drag it back onto the visible desktop.

Any particular setting I should be looking for? I've tried adjusting the resolution a few times.

I thought of that too but it just opens like it's maximizing off screen.

In the middle of the Settings tab is a drop down box marked Display - what are all the options there?

it might be somewhere offscreen by the start menu, turn on the auto-hide and look maybe? or PM me sometime on AIM, if I can get a picture of your desktop, I can likely fix it with ease.
