I Hate Moldings

Hey i hate my moldings so much. my body guy is insisting that i dont have him shave them off. he said the doors will flex and there is always a chance that the shit will crack. he said 6 mths down the line ill kick myself in the ass for doing it. what are some of my options? i have buddy club side skirts and was wondering if there is anything i can to to get rid of the before i start my body work? thanks alot

Will the BC side-skirts cover where the moldings used to be? The wings-west sides skirts and door caps that I have cover the side-molding spots. Maybe you can pop off your moldings, and have them weld in a strip of sheet-metal over them and then paint it?

they said that they can do that but 6 mths down the line when the door gets slammed hard of if the body flexes too much it will all be ruined. i guess im going to have to just leave them there bc the buddy club ones dont come close to covering them. thanks anyways

..if he does it right, and welds a strip of metal to fill the hole....there shouoldnt be a problem with cracking.... that would only require a small amount of filler...

would the wings west door mouldings work with another body kit or wouldthat look stupid? I've always wondered that myself!:confused:

it depends on the kit....most 4th gen kits have really ugly skirts, so alot of people use the ww side skirts/caps with different bumpers...

Yeah, that's what I did. I've got the VIS Racing "Invader" front bumper, and it actually matches up really well with the WW side skirts. The flares at the bottom of the wheel wells look identical between the two.

As for the welding in the metal where the mouldings used to be, if they do a decent job, you shouldn't have a problem.

the invader series....is it fiberglass or urethane? they're front and sides look really phat, and id really much rather get urethane, but all i can seem to find are fiberglass excluding the WW kit i DONT want

I know Import Trenz (http://www.importtrenz.com) has a few urethane kits: Buddy Club BW Danger Extreme Blitz Mugen. I know I would much prefer Urethane over fiberglass, but if I can't find the kit I want in urethane, ill go fiberglass if i have to.

It's fiberglass. I too would much prefer urethane, but I didn't want the WW front bumper, and I think Buddy Club front bumpers (and most of the other urethane ones) look like ass. It fit decently...

hmmm, guess i might just have to settle for fiberglass then
you have any problems with cracking or what not? Obviously if i guess im careful and not blazin over bumps or nuthin, it'll hold up? Any idea about how much fiberglass can actually take before it cracks. Another question is about temperature...would it crack from the temperature change. I live in an area where it gets easily 30 degrees celsius in summer, then goes right down to -30 degrees celsius in winter, im planning on storing it for winter though in an unheated garage. Would the temperature make it bend and crack?
Sorry for all these questions, but i just dont wanna throw out a whole wad of cash before im positive its a good thing to do

Can't help you on the temperature... I really have no idea...

As far as the fiberglass cracking, I've had no problems. Then again, I haven't bottomed it out or hit anything with it (knock on wood), but before I had the bumper installed, it was sitting in my living room, and this friend of mine stepped on the lower lip... She's a pretty big girl, and she didn't crack it, but I almost cried.

So, as long as you're carefull about the bumps and stuff, you should be alright.

I plan on welding 22ga sheet metal over all my side moldings, rain gutter and some other Odds and ends. I dont think I will have any problems with it down the road.
