Ball-joint replacement

I have a slightly loose(zero tolerance allowed) ball-joint on my '90 Buick LeSabre that I want to replace. I also have to replace the half-shaft that had it's boot torn and now making scraping or clicking noises upon turns.
How hard to replace the ball-joint? I know you have to drill out three rivets etc. Are these hard to remove. Also is it necessary to get an alignment after replacing the ball-joint or not? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Air chisel is the easiest way to get the ball joint, make sure you can get a replacement though, my 87 the b'joint was part of control arm. Alignment should not be necessary unless it was done when the ball joint was worn, btw who says 0 tolerance on the ball joint?
