hi everyone, i have a 1969 428 block, dated april if memory serves, and it looks to be in good shape. it is the casting only, with mismatched heads bolted on. i was wondering what the people here thought i should do with it. i know a guy who lives nearby who is interested in it for his old lemans.
should i hold onto it or what... i dont know much about pontiacs

Unless you have plans to use, give it up to someone who will make use of it.

The '69 428 4 bolt main blocks are pretty stout. If used in a racing application the 4 bolt block is almost a "must have". The 428 2 bolt blocks are still good blocks for regular application but they are more common. The heads are what made the 428 into a brute so if you have some good heads on it then this motor can be a killer on the strip!

I rebuilt my 428 using slugs from a 455. This sets the wrist pin slightly higher than a 428 piston would be so the top of the piston is a little lower from the head deck. Dropped compression but it I was building for street, not strip. The 455 slugs were easier to come by.
