Owners manual? 32 would be about right.

Actually Shep the Alero owner's manual does not have the specific inflation pressures depending on which tires it has. It contains loading information and a sample of the loading label less actual data. The label to go by was originally affixed to the driver's side door.
So it would depend on the tires and size he has. The GX, GL, GL2 and GLS models were delivered with different tire options. For example I have P225 50R16 Goodyear Eagle RSA V-rated tires stock and the loading label specifies 30 psi cold.

thanks guys. is there anybody out there who also don't have the tire label in the drivers side door? now i have the notion that I bought a car which had a collision before that is why it doesn't have the tire label on its door.

I would check the tires themselves. I have the same size on mine and keep them at 40psi with my Yokos. The Eagle LS I kept at 40 as well. Any lower and fuel economy goes out the window and the low pressure light comes on.
