Problems with Engine Immobilizer/Anti-Theft Device...car won't start!

Having just purchased my 2003 Sonata, I did not realize the importance of the remote keyless entry! I made a key yesterday for my wife (spare key) and this morning when she went to enter the car (without keyless remote), the alarm went off. She followed the instructions on how to shut the alarm off (disarm car) by putting the key in the ignition, wait 30 seconds and remove key. Well, the alarm went off BUT now I can't start the car. I have tried everything that I can think of--jumped the battery, checked all the fuses, removed the cable to alarm...you name it. Nothing. The car just won't turn over.

I can't believe that I am the ONLY person to have experienced this!? In frustration, I had the car towed to the dealership. This is something that I NEVER do--always work on my own cars. What is bugging me is that I can't understand what happened? Has this happened to other people? How do you reset the immobilizer module or the anti-theft device?

ANY advice, helpful hints, information that you could provide would be so helpful! Rich

This happens alot actually. I know this post is old, but for other people having the same problems, it would be helpful if it were answered! I just had this same issue with a 2003 Hyundai Sonata and called a Hyundai Dealership. Get into the car on the drivers side, put the key in as if to turn it on, making sure the radio comes on (to ensure its not the battery). When all the lights come on, roll down the drivers side window all the way and let the alarm cycle two times. Then take the key out and wait for about 60 seconds. The car should start.
