exhaust tips...

Ok, so I don't want to go dual-dual (meaning dual tips on each end of a dual exhaust), for money reasons and because I think this look is neater personally:

http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts-mufflers/65A2441A0A0.aspx

But 55 bucks for an exhaust tip is a LOT... Does anyone know where to find an angled tip like this for less money or of some other brand? I spent some time looking but couldn't find a decent looking one :uhoh:

thx guys :D

Well I'm here as usuall :D
Doing good, its Friday!

Heres a tip from Jegs Vipey $38 each, dont get much cheaper, and thier Hooker.

Jegs exhaust tips (http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_10001_10002_10255_-1_10245)

They have those Hooker ones, the rest suck !!!

I just have ugly 2 1/2" pipe made into Duals.
Round, looks :gay:
But works fine, I cant see them back thier anyways

I'm looking for chrome square tips(on the ends).
Just looks cleaner IMO.

I'll keep checking Vipey.

Not necessarily that I don't like them, but they have to be stylish :p. I saw a 3000GT VR-4 with the ones I showed you guys and it looked hella sweet, but if I could find those, like that hooker one, I might just do it :P

That looks pretty cool... I wish it was angled more, but I might just settle with that :)

oh and was that with or without resonator?

I saw those w/without resonator, dont know how they'd sound compared to each other.

Here is another one I saw at JCWhitney (http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000185201/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000185201/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000185201) $40 also.

Thier has to be better ones out there!

It's great being 2 months away from 21 and still getting shitloads of stuff from my parents lol

If you are looking for inexpensive just check with any good muffler shop. They usually have a wide assortment of tips, just remember you get what you pay for.

Wow.. what timing. My neighbor was just asking me about tips last week. He wanted to know if anyone makes replacement tips that simply slide over the existing stock GT tips. I told him I didn't know........

I believe he cannot get the stockers to shine, and he simply wants to slide new tips over the existing ones; without the need to cut & weld... Anyone know if those slip-on's are available?

over a stock GT's ? no, none that I know of that you can slide over those.. possible but it'd look funky

Maybe its a new Car ! :greedy:

Gir,
shiny tips are good for at least 10extra HP. :grinyes:
If they are chrome duals, well thats worth at least 30hp :lol2:
If you have a blonde riding shotgun, we'll we all know what thats worth :D

Tommy,
those links above, and most all parts stores, carry a large assorment of single chrome tips that attach with a set screw or two. But you do get what you pay for.

Hate tips that get loose, rattle, FallOFF :yikes:

Stainless steel tips are expensive,
but will last a lot longer then regular steal thats been chromed.

Edit>>>
Gir, I think he is talking about two singles just to cover the ends of the dual tips, not the whole thing....

Well I assume thats what he was refering to.

Thanks guys... yup, that's what my neighbor asked me about. something that merely slides onto & over the stock ones (a GT w/stock duals..)
I know they made them way back in the 70's.. they had those three set screws that you'd tighten to hold 'em in place. They would rust out though..... cheap quality.
I agree with you guys... better to get the replacements in stainless steel. He'll have to bring it into a shop and have 'em welded. But worth the effort & $$$.

Hmmm... After re-reading, I think I would definitely benefit by having a blonde riding with me, lol !! I'll ask Santa for one...

i've never dated a blonde... i'll make that my next goal

Gir-_-
12-16-2006, 09:21 PM
yea XI... 2 singles over each GT pipe .. on both sides... would that be more money? lol... also wouldnt it look kinda funky

I've never dated a blond either, and never will... :thumbsdow

Yes it would be cheaper to hack the duals off the stock muffler , then weld on some new "flashy" dual tips.

I expect to pay around $45-50 for eash tip.
Thats why, I'm in no big hurry to change them.

It might make mine sound........ ... wimpy :loser:

The GT tips are dingy looking ,
and wont shine :headshake
It is wimpy :crying:

Good Hunting guys!

will those hooker ones rust or deshine over time? Im assuming the borlas wont, but I'd like to NOT spend that much money if the hookers will be just fine :D

Wow never talked about spending money on hookers like that before ;)

I dont think hookers doo shine :icon16: :lol2: , unless you find that diamond in the ruff sorta thing LOL... might be a little rusted though :gay:

With my cheap chrome tips ummm, keeping em clean is another story, only 1 rust spot at the moment but thats cause some1 dropped it and some of the chrome chipped or something... doesnt bother me though they're bad, my whole car kinda looks crummy, missing hub caps, scratched windows from plastic pieces onthe inside, paint flaking off on the rear bumper :dunno: w/ few misc scratches here and there and a huge gash on the roof from when it was stormy and a piece of roof tile or w/e decided to fly and hit then scrape off grrrrr..... new paint job and my front bumper installed with my fender fixed.. it'd be good as new w/ some fixed windows and 10% tint & 17" rims :naughty: :smokin: ... oh yea and my lights&fog lights fixed! grr

Hey Vipey,
I would say that they should stay shiney.

But if you dont take care with them they might get tarnished. Probly want to wash them off from time to time like you would the rest of the car.

Hey Gir,
I have seen Hookers shine :D

some that needed buffed too
