Very loud valves

I was noticing that while riding down the road, or even at idle..that my cams would click very loudly, not in an erratic pattern or anything that would lead me to believe that they were damaged. Maybe just out of adjustment. So I did an adjustment, properly. I set them to .007" on the exhaust and .006" on the intake. Just as the helms manual specifies, and the damn things are still loud, I can hear them all the time as im riding down the road, and at idle as well. The sound even bounces off buildings and back into the car. Its not really all THAT loud, but if the radio is off, the car is nothing but cams.
What could make it this loud? Are most B's this loud? And is there anything I can do short of throwing really thick ass oil in the engine?

i adjusted mine too.(b16a) twice. i was thinking the same thing as you, my d series hatch doesnt sound as loud, and i've got the same oil in both. beats me?? i guess thats the way it is. we could run thicker oil. but im not putting in that power robbing goo. 20/50

You DID do the adjustment with the car 100% cool and did each cylinder at TDC right? I know my lsvtec motor doesn't make a sound. You can barely hear it running, and that's with some BAFC's (big ass fuckin cams). I hope it's not a piston/wristpin or bearing issue.

Yes, it was stone cold (had been sitting for two days due to a shredded CV joint) and each cylinder was at TDC, checked and double checked.
oh, and my oil is 20w-50

Maybe your valvetrain is worn? Could just possibly have alot of miles on all of the valvetrain components.

I doubt it, but it could be true..you never REALLY know how many miles are on these things when they get imported. I was told 50k when I bought it, ive put almost 12k on it. Everything looked very good when I took the cover off though,
But who can really tell how much a cam has worn right?

well, you could measure it and compare it to a brand new stock cam...lol...

ok. im running 5w-30 i guess thats why i can hear mine. Are you using 20w-50 for a reason?

Nope, not really. I was going to get 10w-30, but they were out of it, and after reading the service manual, it specified 20w-50 for my climate conditions anyway.

If i were you I woudln't run 20w-50 oil. That stuffs too damn thick, especially since you said your motor has under 100k. In my experience, i've only used 20w-50 on motors that burned mad oil. If i were you, i'd pour either 10w-30 (all season) or 5w-30 in your B16, this could get help get rid of the valvetrain ticking.
