just while am out of town, my dad tells me he cant get the key out of the ignition of his '99. To make the story short he tells me they charged him $700 buxs and had to replace steering wheel (which I assume the cost was the airbag???)
I wont be back to check it out until Jan, but would anyone know why does the steering wheel has to be swapped out if something goes wrong with ignition switch?

That's bullshit. They MIGHT have to replace the ignition cylinder, and if they do its a good idea to replace the door locks, too. Mainly so the same key starts the car and unlocks the doors like it should.
But there's NO reason they'd have to replace the steering wheel. If they set of the airbag, that's their own damn fault and they should eat the cost. The same steering wheel that comes off should go back on unless they set off the airbag because they were dumb.

Thats come bull shit i agree... Before the car left the shop i would have made them go over the bill with you. All you have to do is remove the steering colum covers and replace the ignition cylander. The should have been able to match that to the old keys. If they set the air bag off i would be taking them to small claims court for a refund. They should have dissconnected the battery while working near the airbag.
