Anyone here have any experience changing out the factory sub in a '01 style Yukon XL?

I replaced my factory sub with an 8" Rockford Stage 1. I also put in an aftermarket radio so I didn't use the factory amp behind the glove box. I placed my amp under the cup holders/console. Plenty of room for a 200w amp. Ran the speaker wire down the driver side and then into the side panels in the back.
I purchased the Rockford sub because it is rated for small enclosures.

I am very happy with the sound. I've always had some sort of sub enclosure in my vehicles and this had just enough bass to not waste any space in the Yukon. I would not recommend replacing the sub unless you were planning on installing a better amp than the factory one.

Does the sub fit without any modifications? You don't happen to have any pics of the install do you?

won't the amp get hot under the center console?
also do you use the factory radio or aftermarket one?
how is the aftermarket one wired if used?

I've checked it in the summer after being on for a while and didn't notice it too hot. There is actually quite a bit of room under the cup holders and it is not totally enclosed. The console front is completely open.
I'm using an aftermarket radio. I bypassed the factory amp and the rear tower speakers because I couldn't get it to work right (buzzing and popping). There was an excellent howto on the Delphi Forums ( http://forums.delphiforums.com/GMSUV/messages ) on how to install an aftermarket radio AND use the amp with the two rear tower speakers. Unfortunately I can't find the post. All my favorites with radio installs for the Yukon are dead too. Maybe you could google up some newer pages.
I'm using a SOSCHE sp? wiring harness that you could probably get a WALMART.
BTW the factory amp is located behind the glove box. I've got a 2000 SLT Yukon.
