My son has a 1992 olds cutlass, He went around a curve to fast and ended up in a ditch. The only damage we see is the strut, the control arm(I think that's the name) and the under carriage (or sub fraim). We were wanting to know if the under carriage from a lumina will work? Or if another cars under carriage will work. Any pointers on replacing any of these parts will be GREATLY appreciated. The damage was done on the drivers side if that helps anyone

SUSP SUBFRAME, Part #:12369168

The subframe from a 90-94 Chevy Lumina is supposed to be the same. Also, possibly the 88-96 Buick Regal. The GM part numbers are the same.

The key to replacing a subframe will be to have engine and tranny hoist/lift capability to hold them while the subframe is dropped from below. Replacing lower control arms and struts is the easy part.

thanks for the reply, I'll see what I can find. I hope your right about the strut and control arm being easy to place. Thanks

he is right about that... remove the stabilizer bar and then pop out the ball-joint and then undo the two control arm bolts. While you remove that one, you should do the other one and install some brand new bushings. That makes for a comfortable ride.

i would also look into it and make sure there is no frame/subframe /or bent body damage .i would hate to see u put that much workinto it and discover alignment problems because of that being overlooked.. goodluck

I would also say whether the body/frame is damaged or not you will need to take it to a frame shop that can aligned/straighten the car correctly.

If not, you might be in for a sideways(dog tracking) ride.

Good Luck !

I know this is an older thread but figured since it's related it would help anyone searching.

I have a 91 Ciera with the 2.5L automatic that the k-frame rotted out on the front passenger side. I have located one at a j/y. I also have to replace the TCC solenoid and I was wondering how to combine the two jobs? Will I be able to reach the solenoid with the frame dropped?

Thanks
