I posted a thread before asking if anybody knew what was wrong with my car. (P.S thanks everyone who replied) Well now my car is in the shop and they are telling me the timing belt had a bearing embedded in it. Now my first question is how the heck could that happen and what could happen to my car and the engine. second the repair guy told me that ford's have this thing with the engine, i forgot exactly what he said But it was something that started with an I. I....Failure. i forget i think he said Internal Failure, now what ever this I failure is, could someone explain what that is too. Also how much normally would just a timing belt repair cost.

I am assuming you have a 2.0L / or 2.0L zetec engine
The idler pullies for the timing belt have serious bearing failure problems with the factory parts . Ford has since revised them and should be replaced with only Ford parts for optimum life .
As f ar as how much , my dealer gets 4 hours to do a zetec timing belt and pullies , usually along with water pump , which is another strong recommendation depending on milage.
Hope this helps ease the pain.
