Well as some of you may know I had the intake manifold replaced on my car and the shop really messed it up. Well I got them to pay for the dealer to do it. The dealer said they have never seen such crap work.... Well since then the car has been running very well. Well about 2 weeks ago I went to start the car and it made this loud clank noise and would did start. Got out of the car looked under the hood nothing. Went to start it again started just fine but idle rough. Let it set for a few mins and the idle smoothed out. Well to day it did the same thing. I think both times it did it the car sat for a few days. What could this be???? I'm kind of getting sick of the car I think I want a new motor.

Thanks for the help

change your fuel filter and run some injector cleaner throught it. That can't hurt it. It don't smoke at all when it does this does it? Check spark plugs and wires also.

Could be the starter getting weak? :dunno:

But, with the running rough, I hate to say, the first thing that comes to my mind is wrist pins  Was there water in the cylinders from the intake leak?

I cant recall anyone saying that. The reason i had it replaced. Who ever had the car b4 me had the intake machined for some reason and who ever did that did a bad job. so around the intake there were gaps every where. Well to fix the they just put silicone around the whole thing.

Check the ignition system. Pull the plugs and see if there is moisture in the boots. If there is, dry them out and squirt some dielectric grease in them and reinstall. Check the other end of the wires and do the same there too.

What would cause moisture to get in there

Loose connections or torn boots...

While your at it you might as well pull the cap off your distributor and check for corrosion from moisture leaks there too... :2cents:
