Coolant leak on LS1

Hello,
I have an 02 SS with only 42,000 miles. It had a coolant leak on the waterpump gaskets and began to leave puddles. I have replaced the gaskets and the leak is gone.
Just curious, is this a common problem? Seems like 4 years/42k miles is too soon for a leak like this.

is it garage kept? weather can do it. And the motor going from really cold to hot can cause it. But it is probly just bad luck. Keep an eye on the fluid level if it don't go down any, i would not worry about it. And it sounds like a sweet car, got any pics? Welcome to AF.

Some say when the gasket goes, the water pump is going....but only some say that.

I bought an 02 ram air T/A that had 76K on it, I have no idea where the previous owner stored it (inside or outside), but the water pump gaskets were leaking when I bought it. I replaced the pump & gaskets since I know the pumps go out around 80K (I've hear this & figured while I had it off why not replace it and not have to do the job again). so there's my :2cents: , no idea when it started leaking, just know it was when I bought the car
