MSD RPM activated switch & VTEC

this question is for all you d16z6 owners out there... when using an MSD rpm activated switch, you have to have the rpm modules. I see that they come in series of 1000 (4000, 4200, 4400, 4600, 4800)
Anyways, my question is at what RPM do you activate your VTEC? i have my selenoid hooked up to a toggle type switch right now and i usually hit it about 5200 rpm. I'd like to try to vary the activation point from about 4500 to 5500 rpm but like i said the rpm modules only come in 1k steps and i dont want to have to buy 2 sets. anyone?

4800 is stock setting. i would say 5000 is good. but if you like 5200...go for what you know ;)

...take into account that you've got a relay in there..relays are kinda slow, so it'll be off a bit....maybe if you get a 4800 pill...it would actually end up changing over around 5200? maybe...just a thought :)

hey gunnmen do u have the wiring diagram for the p28 ecu. every one i talked to says its easier to use the si ecu but i know it cant be that hard to wire in the p28............i think that alot of people are afraid of wiring

..p28 is definitely the way to go :) here is a wiring diagram... http://www.geocities.com/kurtsi_on/page8.html
if you dont think you can handle that...email this guy, jason, at [email protected] ...he makes OBD0-OBD1 conversion harnesses and sells em for around $150...that's what I used when I did my swap...

88-91 SiR civics are still OBD0...so that wouldnt help you in doing an OBD1 swap....plus, the harnesses arent always intact when you get the clip...

plug and play....basically, you just gotta run some wires into the engine compartment for the heated o2 sensor, vtec solenoid, etc....

Dropshop is in NH I believe, and from what I understand, the adapter just plugs in, then you just have to extend 8 different wires... seems pretty easy to me.

i know its a little more expensive, but buy a apexi VAFC, it will handle everything. plus you can tune it.
but it is alot more expensive than a RPM activated switch.
but thats how i am going to do it
BTW if you switch to OBD1 you will need a Z6 distributer and the Z6 intake manifold.
BTW.... check out this link CLICK HERE (http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/sohcvtec.html)

I wish i would of had that harness a year and a half ago when i did my swap, i did mine the hard way and cut off the old ecu plaugs and soldered up the 50 or so wires and then modified the dx wire harness and added in the injector wire harness and some other crap too...Man now that i look back that rewire job sucked.....

Im using the z6 intake manifold with my 90 CRX Si ECU and it works fine:flipa: ...i've been told its not *supposed* to
