Has anyone heard about steering wheel freeze up on the Chevy Maxx? This happened twice to me on my 2005, both times in one weekend, on the hwy at around 70mph. It only lasted 2-3 seconds, but it raised the blood pressure. Dealership said they hadn't heard of this problem before and that the steering is electrically power assisted in this model. They replaced the alternator. Haven't had any problems since, but it's in the back of my mind. Since then blinker lights have worked on and off, back defroster deicer had to be re connected? It still doesn't turn off automatically, but dealer said that model doesn't. Windshielf wipers on intermittant will sometimes work continuously when placed on the highest setting, sometimes just quickly intermittant like they are supposed to.

WOW! You said Freeze, Freeze how? I'm not understanding you. Does the car Pull in one direction? Does it feel hard to turn? If it feels hard to turn, then it is your computer. This happened to me in a 95 Chevy Cav. I was going down a Highway doing 75, the I could not turn the car. it was like I lost ALL POWER!! I still had my headlights on, RAdio works, then in 2- 3 seconds Everything was fine. I flushed the P/S Fluid, changed Spark Plugs, got the front wheels aiglined. Then one day the car would not start. had it towed to Chevy. CHevy stated the Computer was shorting and blow up. I had 20 miles left on the warranty. Lucky me. If you can, travel with an OBD 2 tester. this will record whats going on with your car. But with ALL the problems you stated, it maybe the Computer. Or just a Lemon of a car.
