today I was looking at a '97 2D Coupe Mustang, it has 230,000 HMPG on it, and the lady is asking for $2,000, she's knocking it down from 2,400 (blue book value, although from what I can tell, it's a little over 2,100) because it needs a new exhaust, but other than that, the car is well-maintaned, the body looks good, it drives well, besides something rolling around in the exhaust lol brakes, tires, everything else is fine

just wondering, sounds like a pretty good deal, nothing Earth-shattering, so I'm thinking about getting it, will probably try and haggle it down to 1,700-1,800, 1,500 may be wishful thinking, thought I could hear some input from those who know more about Mustangs than I do, as this would be the 1st time I've ever strongly considered buying one

note: I don't have alot of money, damn courts :shakehead so just looking for the best deal for what I have, and think this might be it

any suggestions, thoughts, comments?...rip me a new one? go for it, but please do it before Saturday, which will be the day that I decide if I'm going to get it or not

V6? V8? Automatic? Manual?
What options are on the car?

230k is a lot of miles.

Its a high mileage car. Cheap initial purchase price, but you may end up putting more money into before you know it. With those miles you could be looking at anything from a timing chain to a tranny before long. May be worth your while to have a mechanic take a look at it for you.
