why

why cant gt4 have a run and settings option like gt3 did in the garage?
that was so useful for tuning

also, is it just me, or wouldnt it be nice to have a way to test out a part before you buy it.
sometimes i put a turbo in and it kills the balance of the car, but i already got it, so i'm screwed the 75K or whatever it cost to put it in.
another thing i would like is a top speed test course.
the test course is fine and all, but with faster and faster cars, the test course is too small. it wouldnt be hard for gt4 to extend the test course to have a 10 mile or so straight.
just some things that i think would really improve the game
i mean, its an amazing game, but i would really like a way to test the true top speed of my car without having to enter a race.
a better course for speed testing would be good, and an 'undo' option for parts would rock.

Technically it does have run & setting. Just visit any of the tracks in world circuit, original circuit, special events, etc. and you can do all of that stuff; i believe they record your time too. Being able to test a part on a car is a toss-up cuz it makes sense and then again it doesn't make sense; personally i don't need to test parts before i buy since i know what i'll be using my car for and will pick whats best for it's main use (not necesarily the best expensive stuff) but you should definitely be able to test out the car before you buy it like you can on MC3 or a NFS. Dunno about a different top speed track though. I have no problem with test course and in case you didn't know, you can go backwards and make your top speed run then turn around when you hit it and complete a lap, your speed still records(the run won't end automatically or anything if you run backwards) so that should be enough; no real reason to add more speed tracks in that sense. I really hope they don't wait til 08 to release GT5. I hear that a lot of stuff, including damage, will be downloadable as it makes things easier this way so maybe we won't have to wait as long.

i know you can turn around and go backwards on the test course, but that dosent help if i have to slow down as soon as i hit the turn.
in a zonda, you can get above 225 easy and still be accelerating when you hit the turn, by the end of the turn you are going a lot slower and have to get all that speed up again.
i'm saying just a 10 mile long straight.
you could even have a top speed race.
whoever reaches the highest top speed wins.
kind of like 'with the wind' or whatever, but better.

Understandable.

I agree. a straight would be much better.

Did you ever try the straight on De La Sarthe or Nurburgring? I don't know if those are long enough for you, but if seems like I always able to max out a car on test track.

the sarthe is close to being long enough
nurburgring is the longest straight i think, but it is either up hill or downhill depending on which direction you go.

how fast do your cars go xeven?
anything above 200 is tough to really know the top speed of on the test course for me.

I'm not sure, but I think I had the Option Z around the 260mph area on the Test Track.

I usually just makes the gears as tall as possible and jam the nitrous till its out when I'm trying to get a super top speed. I'll give it a try tonight to see whats the fastest I can get.

I just gave it a try, the fastest I can get is 282mph with the Toyota Minolta Race Car.

i got up to 297 on the test course in my S7

Hmmmm, interesting. I'm gonna have to go through my garage and see what might be able to hit the 300mph mark.

you lucky bastards with your nice cars...
i've only completed 24.6% so far.
no really nice cars.

i think i have a zonda, but that was probably in GT3.
i know the escudo could do 280 without the wheelie cheat. and that was in GT3 with no nitrous.

if you have a spare 500,000 buy a lotus carlton and trick it out with every speed part you can. it will fly.
