i am puttin a t3/t4 turbo in my 96 eclipse (420a engine) but once my turbine starts to spin on my turbo my car will shut off because of my ecu can i use a turbo eclipse ecu off a stock turbo'd eclipse??? or what can i do to pass this problem i am having??? o and also what is the safest psi to run right now on a stock engine with 120,000 miles on it, i no that its better to rebuild it but the rebuild kit hasnt arrived yet......

thanx for yalls help

Well dont even think of using a turbo eclipse ecu cuz your car wont even start. The safest i would say psi wise would be 6-7 psi. Now onto your main problem. Theres no reason for your engine to shut-off unless your running really really lean is the first thing id think of. Your best bet would be to find a guy named silvreclipse i believe his name is he just turboed his 420a he'll help you through it.

If your car is cutting off then the turbo is not the problem. If you ECU is bad you will have to get one off a car that has the 420a motor. The turbo ECU will NOT work. On a motor with that many miles I wouldn't recommend any more that 6-7psi. You can push 8psi if you want to chance it, but I wouldn't unless you have another ride.

Edit* - Damn you beat me to it.

The ECU is preprogrammed to work with the stock setup and only the stock setup, it can not adapt to anything. is that correct???........ if so how did u get past ur stock ecu ???? i have herd of a piggyback controler and also i talked to a guy at a performance shop in san antonio but he said it would cost 1100 just to tune it and get past my stock ecu he said somthin bout bypassing it, but i thought that was way too much.........

Look up a place called Maximum Velocity, ask for Tim, and tell him crunchy sent you. He will take care of you, good guy. He's done plenty of 420A-t's

You are correct. The stock ECU is not set up for boost and will not run right if it picks it up. My ECU doesn't even know when the turbo spools. The only thing I can think of that is happening is that your MAP sensor is seeing boost, this will cause fuel cut. There are 2 ways to get past this. I used 'missing link' it works like a check valve that goes between your map sensor and the intake mani. It allows the MAP to read vac. but blocks off boost. Or you can go with an electric on. Its like a voltage clamp, when you car hits 0 vac. the MAP puts out about 4.65volts and the clamp holds it there and wont let the boost change it.

ok so that must b my problem which is the best way too go??? what did u do to make ur ecu not even see ur boost??? (edit) so the missing link is the best way to go???

Both ways are good, I think that missing link is easier but some people still have probelms, so go with what you think it best. If you go with an electronic on you will have to splice in wires and set it with a volt meter so its a little more complicated.

Yeah course i beat ya Sivlr !!!!but i did find i think one of the better 420a turbo kit providers pm if you want the link. (little thread heist)

This thread is making my head hurt, I dont know what is going on. However I do know that having a turbo hooked up to your car on stock ECU isnt the reason its not starting. I know many people that ran stock ECU's on turbo'd 420a's for atleast a little while, one has been for several years. If you arent starting, its something else thats not right, not the fact you have a turbo hanging off the exhaust manifold.

i think you dont have the correct devices to make that thing go at all. because you cant use the ecu thats in a turbo dsm already because it's reading from the mas it has in that 4g63 motor. i think you just have to either go aem ems to have it run good or some other option. and yeah...this thread is hurting my head also...
