Broken Speedometer on 2004 Yukon Denali

For the past few days my speed indicator on my speedometer was really jerky and then the indicator just stopped working and is hanging limp past 120 mph. Occasionally the indicator arm will move when I'm driving, but it only goes back to about 50 or 60 mph and sits there for a few minutes before it goes limp past 120 again. The dealer says they have to replace the whole instrument cluster ($400+) and the local mechanic says he'll have to remove the speedometer and send it in to the manufacturer to see what's wrong ($375+ just to remove and ship the speedometer to the manufacturer). Anyone have any recommendations?

Also, when I press the rear window washer button in, the wipers move but there is no fluid and there is a buzzing noise somewhere in the dashboard behind the steering column. Could this be related to the speedometer problem?

I have a 2003 yukon, and it had the same problem. The dealer put in a rebuilt cluster, and I have not had a problem since. I was hoping for a cheap fix,but as usual it cost me $435.00.

Good luck,
Greg

i have mine replaced twice in the past week. Both times the digital odometer returned and error after leaving the dealer. Interesting to note that on another post the steering column has issues. mines been doing the same thing. I'm taking it back in Monday. Third times a charm right. i have 48k on it and we purchased the ext warr. Thnak God.
