In a nutshell i bought this lumina over the weekend. Got a good deal on it but here is the catch, first of all the transmission shakes badly.
Under 25 it aint to bad and after you get going ont the highway to 70 it calms down and is somewhat smooth. Now this guy says the tranny was put in new about 9 months ago, but he thinks the guy put it in wrong. A backyard mechanic did this not a shop.
So do i try to track down why it shakes so bad? Do i go ahead and drive it till it goes out and then replace it? If it was put in new but put in wrong will the wear and tear of the faulty spot ruin it? I am pretty handy and would like to attempt to fix this myself if possible since i dont have the money to spend on a shop to do it.
2nd problem, i have no instrument panel lights as well as tail lights. I have checked these things and all is fine, Brake lights, turn signals, headlights also work on regular and bright. I did take a look at the fuses inside the car today and seen no visible bad one, tomorrow i check the fuses under the hood. The Dimmer light will turn on the inside light of the car, but the instrument panel is dark as well as the heater knob lights, and like i said the tail lights too.
This car has a professionally installed stereo system and the wires under dash looked nice and clean, all taped up nothing noticable. However i think there was a remote car starter as well as alarm hooked up cause the steering coulmn is a bit messy, for instance no hazard light flasher and where the turn signal is the shroud is missing somewhat even though a quick look and the wires look fine.
Any ideas at all would be helpfull and appreciated thanks.

UPDATE:
I was able to get the taillights and instrument panel lights going, it ended up being a 25A fuse on the driver side fusebox under hood.
However, all the other fuses are corroding away quickly. I took the abs relay out and the 4th prong was so corroded it stuck in there. So i will have to dig that out. Otherwise i took the other fuses out and sanded down the contacts to get some of the rust off.
Still needing tranny advice though.
