I have a 2004 SEL and occasionally the gas pedal will vibrate. It usually just does this when the car is cold but sometimes it'll vibrate when it's warm. Any idea what could cause this?

That's almost got to be due to a vibration in the engine. Is your 2004 throttle-by-wire? If so, there is no physical connection of the accelerator pedal to the engine, just the body of the car.

I had the same problem on my '01 duratec. Turned out to be the throttle cable was rubbing against part of the airbox. The cable is sheathed in thick foam where it runs to the engine under the hood. My cable had rubbed through the foam by vibrating against something under the hood. I stuffed a piece of foam in and wire tied it around the existing cable. Then used some ties to hold the cable apart from touching anything, and added some more foam where I thought it might also rub. The vibration has all but dissapeared. To think, I went a year enduring that before I decided to have a look. Simple fix, good luck!

It seems to be a common problem ... mine does it too. But I don't really see anything wrong with it.
And I believe they are all gas pedal connected to throttle.

Ford has a TSB on this. It is TSB number 04-26-15. It addresses the need to install a new cable bracket to keep vibration from coming through the accelerator pedal.
