S13 Silvia with Bodykit

As the weathers stopping me from doing any spraying I thought I'd make a start on this one - it's the recent Aoshima release with engine. It's slightly disappointing as it's only a 1/2 engine but what there is is nicely detailed and should look ok. So far I've roughed out the bodykit with plastic sheet & Tamiya epoxy putty -the front will need lot more work but the general shape is there.

Half an engine is better than none:lol:

Looking good so far. What rims are those?

They're one of the Luxy sets from Aoshima - sorry I can't remember the number - with Racing Hart CR trim rings.

It's roughly based on this Origen kit

sweet any pics of the molded engine?

so are those the wheels u settled on? It would be sweet if you can get the "stance", the negative offsets and negative camber =flush wheels.. something i think alot of the silvia modelers fail to capture on these jdm cars

please don't take offense to this, because it isn't your fault. that motor is just something to get pissed off about!!! yeah, the details that it has are good, and it is a motor in a S13, but wow is that depressing!!!

I do like the the underhood details, are they all seperate pieces, or moulded in? you are doing a fine job on this, and I am very excited to see it finished. keep up the good work.

Should be easy enough to modify it so it doesn't look like an after thought. Mine should be arriveing in a couple weeks. Can't wait to open it up! Keep it comming Andy!

The engine bay's engineered as an insert into the stock Silvia S15 chassis with the 1/2 engine seperate - I'll post some pics over the weekend

Haven't make much progress as the front bumper is proving difficult to get right but here's a couple of pics of the engine/engine bay as promised. The engine itself in in 3 pieces. It'll look better once all the bits and peices are added to the engine.

the engine bay detail is really nice, and I must say that the engine too is nice for being as low detail as it is. it should be able to be detailed quite nicely with some wire harness, fuel/brake/clutch lines, radiator & hoses. if you get everything in there for details, you may not even be able to see the fact that it's a half motor.

how does the undercarriage look? suspension details, drive train? sorry for asking for details that are obviously going to be shown, I'm just trying to justify the $50 it's going to take to get it to my house.

It's just the standard Aoshima S15 chassis with moulded in bottom half of the engine & transmission/part exhaust. The front & rear suspension are seperate.

so they put the S15 chassis into the S13? this would mean that the S15 is going to be available with the Sr20 soon as well?

i jus picked this model up.. with plans to put the engine bay/engine in my fujimi 180sx.. and i have a r32 model that i lost the interior pieces so i might jus make a Skyvia with those..

This Aoshima model, has some nice things over the fujimi.. Better interior ext.. The chassis /suspension must have been carried over from the S15 models.. The real cars are basically alike so there wouldn't be any noticeable differences. In fact, some people put S15 subframe rear ends on S13s becuase they got improved geometry so consider the suspenion modified =) .

The engine bay tho, the strut towers dont look simular to the real car.

Andy Jones- would be cool to see you simulate V-mount intercooler on yours =D

I threw this one back in the box at the start of the year because I just couldn't get the front bumper right. Anyway I've decided I'll have another go - still needs a lot of work before I'm happy with it but now everythings in primer it's given me the push I need to do some more work.

the only thing I see wrong with it is that the side skirts are a little to thick and the wheels don't look right sitting that low/far in, but I'm sure the wheel issue will change during final assembly.

the body kit looks really good. I can't wait to see what you can do with this one.
