oddest noise when turning

i hear the weirdest noise whenever i turn right, it sounds like a rattling, but im pretty sure it isnt a wheel bearing, it happens when im driving, but when i pop it into N it seems to go away a little bit, but you can still here it, i had the car on a lift and started the engine, put it in drive, let the wheels spin and turned the wheel, no noises at all. no idea what the problem is, seems to only happen when theres load on the wheel. im thinking tranny, any thing i should check out?

You didn't say what model you have but I had a Ciera with a similar problem, it turned out to be a tin like cover or heat shield that was located above the rack and pinion close to the floor on the lower part of the firewall.

Incase anyone was wondering, i've managed to fix the problem. on accident, My starter had gone out, and as soon as i replaced that, the noise went away, Im guessing the gear within the starter would slide back and forth, and when i turned right, it would slide and hit the flywheel making that horrible noise. But all is good now.
