spark plug stuck

i got a 99 grand am gt with the v-6
i got 5 of the 6 plugs changed but the middle plug in back will not come out.
it starts to thread out a little bit tight then it just gets tight. i try threading in back in and back out again a few times but still gets tight and thats it.
the engine was bone cold when i started. are the threads crossed? should i force threading it out? wat do i need to do??

The threads are fine and they do tend to stick.
Especially if no Anti-seize was used.

Well if it has to come out, it has to come out.
Might try a little spray lube ,
might free it up so it'll come out.

If its crossed threaded :yikes:
The head will need to be removed .
It will need re-threaded larger so a thread insert (that matches the spark plug) can be inserted.

If you dont remove the head,
you'll have shaving most likly and it will screw up the;
heads/valves ,
or the cylinder walls and pistons and rings.

Which is very very costly :grinyes:

Well........I backed out the plug as far as i can get it and sprayed wd-40 down though a little hose to the threads and let it set awhile then screwed the plug back in and tried to back it out again and repeated this a few more times. and well......the plug is still in there :-( it backs out about halfway (tightly) then it is soooo tight im afraid to go with any more pressure cause it is damn tight just getting it to the point it stops. any more ideals?

This car has nothing but problems problems problems since i owned it.
and im looking for a thread on growling in streeing when i turn it left.
power windows track is busted window just dropes down
howling noise is fornt end as you drive it.
and gas gauge gets to 1/8 then goes to full........
any threads on these subject be great.

If you may think its cross threaded then leave the spark plug till you want to spend the money to tap a new threading. If you ain't afraid to pay the consicuences remove the spark plug. Could be threaded, or could just be stuck. I know sometimes when im working on a project -not necsarly my car- and im removing a bolt sometime the bolt seems to get stubbern to remove half way out then i need to add pressure and it is removed with no damage to threads.

The spark plug could just be stuck a little bit half ways and just needs extra pressure. Get a mirror and see if the spark plug is coming out leaning or straight out the block. If you don't want to take a chance then just leave the spark plug untill you have to remove the plug. I know i've heard of people changing there plugs for the first time on there car and somtimes they see one spark plug that is differnt then the others, meaning the mechanic they took it took didn't remove one plug probably from difficulty. Just do what you think is best and good luck.

As for the window, its a small plastic part that holds the window in place. Common problem and simple to repair. I glued the new part in and let it set for three days before I used the window again.


The growling may be low power steering fluid level, they usually make this noise when low.

The Grand Am is a good car but just like any other car, if you neglect it the issues will mount up. I have had all the usual problems with mine but I usually repair them right away.

the power steering fluid is fine it was the frist thing i checked...it only growls when i turn to the right grrrr.........
as for it being a good car......well i dunno lol its popping up new problem every week... little stuff like the defrosting duct vent the corners popped up causes the little tabs on the ends are broken, the molding around windoshield popped off yesterday it just little stuff. i fix one thing and two more little things go wrong lol

Might try some upper engine lubricant. If the threads on the plug have some carbon built up on them, it might help work it loose.

its a long shot but..

I bet the plug is just stuck back there.
I also would bet its differnt then the other ones.
Meaning its probley been in there a long time.

The growling steering could be several things.
IS the pump whats doing the growling?

Check the fluid when its cold. If it was low after warming up it will foam up and appear fuller ;)

My 99' SE was doing this and first I drained the fluid from the resivour and refilled with new.
After doing this several times, draining and filling until the fluid looked clear(r).

Finally refilling with sythetic powersteering fluid.
Takes some time to get all the air out of the fluid/lines butit was worth it.
Seem to fix the growl but then I had to replace the lines due to leaks. :banghead:
