3rd Shock?

On a '99 Sonoma 2WD 6cyl there is a 3rd shock on the right side in the rear. The shock is mounted on a 45 degree angle on the chassis to the axle. There is NOT one on the left rear side. What is this?

Usually this to to prevent axle/spring wrap up on acceleration.

Sure wish I had this on my 1991 Sonoma with 4.3L. Then maybe I would need traction bars?
