i used to post on this forum pretty regularly, but left when my Eclipse gave itself a hot carl. It's been several months since I've had the pleasure of driving anything even remotely quick, having been driving the rental-car-like Cobalt to work and classes, but I sold it to my sister a couple weeks ago, and now i have about 13G's to work with. I've racked autotrader and the local dealerships for weeks looking for a more reliable performace car, even test- driving a (I'm ashamed to say) '04 Civic Si(It sucked), and found nothing to my liking. I was more frustrated than Steven Seagal at an Antiques Roadshow convention. And then something dawned on me..........for 13 grand, I could just buy a really fucking sweet DSM!!!!!! God Dammit. So the search starts..........

That thought ran through my mind, it'd be fast as hell, but the part of me that craves attention from women at stoplights screams second gen. Of course, I'll try to find a '99 GSX like everyone else, but if that fails, I might just have to buy a shell and start building. It sucks, I was just getting used to not having banged up knuckles all the time.....

 Yeah, I remember looking at my hands with sort of happily when all my knuckles and fingers we healed up, but its kinda badass to have gnarled up hands. Do you guys ever get a good nick and not know until either blood is running down your arm or dripping all over the floor, tools, or what you are working on. Gotta love those.
Heres what I would do. First off I would get a cheap, economical DD. I would get a lower milage Cavalier or some Honda or Toyota. I wouldnt spend more than 3 grand on it though. Now that you have transportation, you arent under that pressure for a car. I would then hunt down a 6 bolt 1g AWD. You should be able to get one in need of a bit of TLC for like $1500 or less. Now you have atleast like $8500 to build that shit to the teeth. $8500 would get you a built 2.4 with 4g63 head engine, a shep tranny, and all the bolt ons pretty easy and you'd still have quite a bit left over for fun stuff like rims and tires, a paint job, seats, etc. I bet you could have a 2.4 liter GT35R monster for your budget.
